Y5 children lived the life of an evacuee on their day out. First of all they came to school dressed as an evacuee complete with gas mask box and a label with their name on. At the station they were sorted as if they were evacuees and then boarded the train to get to the safety of the country. They took the steam train from Douglas to Ronaldsway Halt where they disembarked and walked to spend the afternoon at the Manx Aviation and Military Museum. Their guide was very inspirational and seemed to have a wealth of knowledge about WW2 and how the Island played it's part. Then it was time to return and come back to the 21st century.
Thank you to the parents who volunteered to accompany the children on this trip-it really did make their learning come alive!
